In getting ready for Ireland and London I've been doing some cybersleuthing for advice, rants, and stories from locals and travelers. What I found was some useful information, especially for Americans. So here is a list of things I solemnly swear to do and more importantly, not to do.
I solemnly swear
• To be conscious of how close my face is to yours when talking to you (in America we get pretty close)
• To be conscious of how loud I'm talking (even with my classmates, the whole street doesn't need to hear it)
• To behave acceptably in the queue (no cutting, talking to loud, and I don't have to talk to the people around me)
• To be polite
• To never chant USA, USA, USA (not that I've ever done so)
• To never ask dumb questions such as do you guys have internet? or are you related to a leprechaun?
• To never wear American sports paraphernalia (or stick out like a sore thumb)
• To never force my ideals onto anyone
• To never stand on the left of the escalator (the left is for walking, right is for standing)
• To not live up to the stereotype of being ignorant
