I knew it was going to be a wonderful day when I first woke up with the sunlight grazing my skin. It was a beautiful day, the sun was out, with no chance of rain. It made this day even better than I imagined.
Our series of spectacular events began in Dubh Linn Garden. A beautiful garden with flowers, water, and soft grass just made me feel so Zen. With the birds over head, the wind in my hair, and the sun at my back, the gardens was such a lovely place.
Next in our series was lunch at the lovely Silk Road Café. Lunch was delicious, the best I’ve had since we got here. Located in the Chester Beatty Library it is an adorable eatery with delicious food, cakes, and tea.
Next in our series was a tour of Chester Beatty Library, which turned out to be nothing like I expected. What we were greeted by was a collection of artifacts from Chester Beatty that ranged from katana, the Quran, and ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. The wide range of some of the oldest and best kept artifacts, was better than many museums exhibits. I saw so many important pieces of history, I cant believe it.
Our spectacular day ended with a reception at the US Ambassador’s Residence. Being on the same guest list as brilliant Fulbright Scholars and important community figures from Ireland and the US was such an honor. While there, we had the honor to meet Tom Healy, the chairman of the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. The house is gorgeous, with an even better view of Phoenix Park and beyond. With h’orderves served on silver platters, important people all around, and a beautiful view out back, the party was a surreal experience.

While in the US Ambassador’s Residence I also noticed that both the staircase carpet and the central carpet with the US national emblem were both gold and blue to represent Irelands colors.
