Our first full day in Dublin packed with adventures. We started off catching the bus too The Irish Fulbright Commission office where we met Colleen Dube. Then we walked toward our yummy lunch spot, Brewley’s Café, and on the way we decided to stop by Saint Stephen's Green Park, and it was the best experience. The park is so lovely and green, right in the city with the double decker busses zooming right outside. There were a plethora of plants and animals thriving in the park. After taking just a few photos in the park my curiosity of the types of flowers I've never seen before lead me to investigate the flora of Ireland. Irelands climate is moist and variant, and has salt-marshes, sand-dunes, cliffs, lake-shores, limestone pavement, bogs, uplands, and grasslands allowing for a wide variety of plants to thrive.
One of the flowers we saw, as pictured above on the left, is a white hydrangea. Hydrangeas are sturdy, long-living shrubs that bloom in the summer and into fall. They come in a wide variety of white, cream, pink, blue, and red, with cone or ball shaped bundles. Hydrangeas are beautiful plants that are very often used as decoration.
The second type of flowers we saw, as pictured above in the middle, is a Laburnum. Laburnum is a tree with a short sturdy trunk that can grow to 20 feet tall. It has dark green leaves with yellow hanging flowers that usually bloom in May. Come to find out all parts of the tree is poisonous if consumed in enough amounts, lovely but lethal.
The third type of flowers we saw, as pictured above on the right, is lawn daisies. Lawn daisies or Bellis perennis is a common European species of daisy. This adorable flower rarely reaches six inches tall or a diameter of one inch. Although it looks pretty it is considered an invasive weed because it is not easily removed. After our delicious lunch we hopped on the hop-on hop-off bus and didn’t hop off till we returned to our hotel.
